STOCK SALES. RATES AT OTOROHANGA. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, Hami ilton, report as follows on their Otoroj iianga stock sale held on Tuesday:— j The entry of cattle lacked good beef I cows, only a few being of forward coni dition with the majority unfinished and boners. A number of pens of yearling I heifers also was yarded. -Competition j In the fat and store section was brisk and realisations were effected on the j basis of last week’s quotations. The | Jersey heifers sold keenly. A mlxe| | entry of dairies was handled. The j offering in this section included the J advertised herd on account Messrs. E. Brock and Sons, and a good propor- • tion of this herd comprised nice class ' dairies. Rates were much the same Jas usual, the Inquiry centring principally on young cows In condition, j Medium fat heifers made £4 18s to i £0; medium fat Jersey beef cows, £4 i 15s to £'s 7s 6d; lighter quality, £4 2s : 6d to £4 15s; unfinished, £3 12s 6d 1 to £4 2s '6d; heavy boners, £3 2s 6d ; to £3 12s 6d; others, £1 15s to £2 15s; ! good yearling Jersey heifers, up to £3 i 10s; black poll heifers, £3 4s; choice 1 young dairy cows, £8 10s to £lO 10s; j others, £6 15s to £7 15s; Inferior ,up Jto £6 10s. Apart from a line of 100 | s.m. breeding ewes, the entry was j small and comprised odd lots of sheep. ' A good demand was experienced and i rates were generally stable. Light fat ! lambs made 20s to 225; 100 breedi ing s.m. ewes. 26s 3d; medium fat I wethers, 22s to 265; light fat ewes, up to 245. We penned a full yarding of stores and weaners. They all met with a brisk reception and realisations reflected the improving trend of prices at other centres recently. The lot 1 changed hands. Good store pigs made i 29s to 335; medium, 24s to 27s 6d; i slips, 1.9 sto 23s 6d; good weaners, up to 18s 6d. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, report holding their usual sale at Otorohanga, yesterday, when a small yardHig of store cattle and a larger entry of dairy cattle came forward. Pigs were also penned in smaller numbers. Store and boner cattle showed an easing tendency, while dairies sold at late quotations. Store and weaner pigs realised good prices under keen competition. Heavy boner cows made £3 7s fid to £4; lighter, £2 10s to £3 ss; light boner bulls. £2 2s; empty Jer- | sey heifers, to £3 ss. The advertised dairy herd on acoount of a olient, realised from £5 5s to £6 ss; other dairy cows, £6 to £7; more backward cows, £5 5s to £5 15s; dairy heifers, £6 to £7; backward heifers, £4 5s to £5 ’ss. Pigs: Slips, 2'ss; good weaners, 19s; smaller weaners, 8s fid to 10s 6d; Tamworth sows, to £3 17s 6d. TE KAUWHATA QUOTATIONS. Messrs. G. W. Vercoe and Company* Limited, report having held their fortnightly stock sale at Te Ivauwhata on ; Monday. There was a large yarding j of dairy cattle (Including the advertised herd) and these sold readily at ; full late rates. A small entry of fat | and store cattle sold under keen competition and a total clearance was i effected. Fat pigs came forward In , larger numbers than usual and oreated I a keen demand and prices improved, j A full yarding of store pigs met with a ready sale and prices were a shade firmer. WAIHOU HORSE FAIR. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, report having held a horse fair at Waihou yesterday, when only a medium entry came forward. Competition throughout was keen and some good sales resulted. Heavy draught horses made £4O to £SO 10s; medium. £36 to £39 1 0s: light, £24 to £33; unbroken horses, £22 to £2B; medium foals, £l3 10s to £l7.
