FAT STOCK SALES.
GOOD DEMAND REPORTED. AN INCREASE IN PRICES. i AUCKLAND, Thursday. All classes of fat stock were in itron# demand at the West held sales yesterday. Sheep sold best, wethers i making up to -is above recent rates. 1 and calves advanced by as much as 5s a head. Cow beef was quoted dearer by Is per 1001 b. Individual Consignments. Top price for 0\ beef was £ls 17s 6d. obtained in a line of U from Mr W. .1 Ralph’s estate. Prices to £ll were paid for stock from Mr F. Smith, of Kirikopuni. and Mr A. \Y. Alley, of Hlkutaia. In the cow section, a prime beast from Mr 11. F. llccd topped the market at £l2. (lows and heifers yarded by Stoncx Brothers, of Pukehuia, sold to £lO 12s Gd, and five from Mr Caleb
Hill’s estate, of Ohlncwai, ranged to £9 15s. Lines from Mr J. A. Hill, of Ohtnewal, and Mr 11. Windsor, of Mata'ngi, were traded to £9 10s. Dalgoty and Co., Ltd. Messrs Dalgety and Company. Ltd.. Auckland, report that at their weekly Westfield stock sale to-day their offering comprised 130 cows and heifers, against 204 last week. The demand was keen and values for ox beef did not decrease. Cow and heifer beef was also In demand. Quotations: —Extra choice ox sold to 33s per 100 lbs; choice and prime. 30s to 325; secondary and plain. 3Gs to 395; prime young cow and heifer beef, 2Gs to 2 9s; ordinary cow beef. 20s to 245. crate one. Competition was very brisk and a keen sale resulted in values showing a sharp rise on last week's quotations.
