SHEARERS’ PAY.
INCREASES IN WAGES. NEW RATES ANNOUNCED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLI-NGTON, Wednesday. Substantial increases have been made in the rates of pay for New Zealand shearers and shed hands for next season. The rates are as folMaehlne shearing, not less than 34s a hundred with rations (Inst year 275) ; shearing by hand. 36s »>d (20s Gd'. Where shearers tlnd themselves In rations the allowance Is -id a day. For stud sheep and hogget rams rate and a-half will be paid and for other rams, double the ordinary rates. Other rates: —Shed hands and presRers £5 Is a week (£4) ; by the hour, 2s Od (2s 2d); nil other shed hands, £4 lid a week (£3 10s). by the hour. 2a 7d 28 ; cooks, twelve men or under, £5 J 1 s a week .C 4 10s), per * /lay. £1 Is (17s Gd) ; over twelve men r the wage will be Increased 2s Gd a week for each additional man and for over 18 an assistant shall be employed at a rate of £4 lGs (£3 15s), or 17s 4d a day (15s). All the rates are subject to the same adjustment and conditions as last
