DAZZLING HEADLIGHTS.
RESPONSIBILITY OF MOTORISTS. NEGLIGENCE TO CARRY ON? (By Telegrapn.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. The responsibility of drivers when I they met dazzling headlights on the roads was touched oil by Mr Justice Nortlicroft in llio Supreme Court this this morning in his -charge to the Grand Jury when referring to charges against car drivers. ‘‘This man was returning from the races in a motor vehicle accompanied by his mother and two friends on a perfectly straight road and ran -down and killed a man on a bicycle,” said llis Honour. ‘‘He subsequently made the statement that lie was blinded by the lights of the oncoming vehicle and | the Crown’s case is that it was ncgli- | gent of him to carry on "while so | blinded. 1 ‘‘There is some controversy among | motorists on the subject of dazzling j lights. Some certainly do carry on j when dazzled fov lights and hope that nothing happens before the lights pass, but it is for this jury to consider what they should do.” A true Bill of driving negligently I was returned.
