BUNSHINE LEAGUE’S EFFORTS. r MANY COMFORTS PROVIDED. Funds in hand amounting to £BO were shown in the llnancial ■statement of the Waikato Hospital Sunshine League, presented at the annual meeting in Hamilton last evening. Commenting on Hie balance sheet, the president, Mr A. L. Fow, said in his f report that the amount did not include ! the donation from the Lord Nuffield i Fund, which was earmarked for the L Installation of wireless at the hosP pital. The amount received from the f fund had been kept intact while lnvos- [ tlgation for the plant roqulrcd had been made. Continuing his report, the president stated that the art union held during the year had been very successful, bringing In a gross amount of £6l 14s 9d, which was reduced by expenses to £SO li-s sd. The ladies’ committee had done valuable work in the Waikato Hospital, paying regular visits anti assisting wherever possible. In addition 35 concerts had been given under Ihe auspices of the league. Considerably over 6000 books and periodicals were collected and made up for I lie various wards, while some hundreds of gar-r-rnts were made up for patients. Records for gramophones had been provided and clothing donated to the league had 1 distributed to those In need. Fruit, and in some cases tobacco, had been given to the patients each week. At Christmas entertainments were held and the inmates of the Old Men’s Home and Sunshine Ward provided with extra comforts. During Coronation Week a cake and extra fruit were given fo each or the wards. “In conclusion. I would like to thank Mrs I. Owsley, the convener of the ladies' committee, and Mr R. W. Kemp, secretary, for the wav in which thev have worked so cheerfully and well for the league.” said Mr I’ow. The following oltlccrs were elected: Patron, Mr .1. R. Fow; president. Mr ■\ L.
