(Received July 28, ii a.m.) SYDNEY, July 28. x The development of the Newnes shale oil field is likely to begin shortly. An agreement between the Commonwealth and New South Wales Governments and the National Oil Proprietary, Ltd., has been signed. Mr J. A. Lyons said the Commonwealth Government hopes that Newnes will be the nucleus of an organisation to produce petrol for defence purposes.
