LOCAL OBSERVATIONS. The following local observations on the weather are supplied toy Miss Budd, of Messrs Balfour, Irvine and Webster, Limited, Hamilton: Barometer. Tuesday* 29.75 Wednesday 30.00 Thermometer. Max. Min. Monday 54 45 Tuesday 52 38 Mean Temperature, 45 deg. The barometer reads 30.00 and has a rising tendency. Indications are for partly fair to partly cloudy weather today with scattered showers, seasonable temperature and westerly winds prevailing. The Rainfall. Rainfall for 24 hours ended 9 o’clock this morning, .04in. Rainfall for previous 24 hours, .27in. Rainfall for July to date, 3.03in. Average rainfall for July, 4.83in. Rainfall for year to date, 27.01in. Average yearly rainfall, 46.32in. BPECIAL FORECAST. (By Govt. Meteorologist). The special forecast by the Government Meteorologist covering the WaikatoThames Vnlley fs ss follows Forecast: Moderate to strong westerly winds of gale force in places, later backing to southwesterly. Weather cold and changeable, with occasional passing showers. Sharp frosts probable in places. Seas rather rough to rough. General Inference: An anticyclone extends from Australia, where pressure has risen considerably. A rather deep secondary depression was, however, crossing the southern portion of the South Island early this morning, and It is probable that other secondaries will follow it.
