NO ATTEMPT TO DRIVE.
INTOXICATED SALESMAN. AFTERMATH OF DANCE. (ny Telegraph.—press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. Joseph Reid Taylor (20), a salesman. was a guest at the City Council traffic inspectors’ dance last night. In (he Magistrate’s Court to-day he pleaded guilty to intoxication in charge of. a car in Armagh Street last night. Taylor was fined £lO and his license was cancelled for twelve months.
Sub-Inspector McLean said Taylor was found In the front seat of a rental car by two traffic Inspectors. They were satisfied he was intoxicated. Counsel contended the offence was a technical one. Taylor had been to the traffic Inspectors’ dance and had a number of drinks. He felt unwell so he went to the car, unlocked the door, threw the keys on the floor and fell asleep. Taylor had made no attempt to drive the car.
