WOMEN’S DIVISION.
TE AWAIYIUTU BRANCH. The monthly meeting of the Te Awamutu branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held In the Parish Hall on July 22, Mrs Neill presiding over a good attendance of members. A letter from St. John Ambulance was read asking for co-operation ill arranging their Paddy’s market, and Mrs Worthington and Miss Eyre were appointed to confer with the St. John Ambulance committee. That South Auckland provincial inaugurate a housekeeping scheme on similar lines to that at present working so successfully in the Waitcmata provincial was unanimously approved by members. Full reports of the business transacted at conference were given by Mrs Neill and Miss Eyre, special mention being made of Mrs F. J. 13. Ryburn’s election to the Dominion Advisory Board. Most enjoyable solos were given by Mesdames Skinner and Woodward, the accompaniments being played by Miss North. Mrs MacDonald (Ngaromo) and Mrs McKee (Pukeatua) kindly judged the shortbread competition, which was won by Mrs Pattlson, Mrs Rae being second. Afternoon tea was provided by the Kihi Kihl and Owairaka members. OTOROHANOA BRANCH. A special meeting of the Otoroanga branch of the Women’s Divi-
sion of the Farmers’ Union was held In the Otorohanga Town Hall annexe recently, when a large attendance was presided over by Mrs W. Pye, of Whawharua. The principal business of the meeting was to discuss a housekeeping proposal, formulated by Mrs J. Ilorneman, of Whawharua, the proposed scheme being quite apart and additional to the existing headquarters scheme now in operation throughout the Dominion. After very considerable discussion and consideration, a vote was taken on Mrs Horneman’s proposal, which was defeated. NGAHINAPOURI BRANCH. The monthly meeting of the Ngahinapourl branch of the Women’s Division was held in the local hall on July 15, Mrs J. MoWhannell presiding. The annual social evening of the Women’s Division, which this year took the form of a concert and dance, was held on July 2 and proved a great success in every way. Mrs Newdick gave a very interesting talk on the New Education Fellowship lectures, much to the appreciation of all present, and Major Liddell gave an address on prison reform which was listened to with interest and appreciation. The speaker was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. The roll-call, “What has helped me most at our meetings,” was well responded to. Competitions resulted: Flowers, Mrs Fitness; gift, Mrs MoWhannell. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs Ad linn and the Misses Callahan.
