OBITUARY.
MR. A. W. CIRSS. The death occurred in Hamfiton yesterday, of Mr. Alexander William Birss. aged 67. Mr. B : rss was horn a! Coldstream, Canterbury. He went to live at Dannevirke. where he was engaged in business as a cordial manufacturer with Mr. T. M'tchell. In 1895 he was married and left to reside at Ransiora, where he followed his trade. While at Rnngiora he was a member of the howling club, fire brigade and Caledonian Society. From Rangiora Mr. Birss moved lo the Wairarapa and then to Wanganui, and later to Hamilton. He was a member of the Masonic order, belonging to St. Mark’s t odge No. 53. Carterton. A , keen sportsman. Mr. Btss had many i interests in this field. He Is survived i by a widow, one son and two daugh- , tors. His eldest son. Lieutenant A. C. Birss. was killed In action at Passchaendale. The surviving children are Mesdames S.
