CHEMIST FOR TRIAL.
ALLEGED SALE OF PILLS. In the Hamilton Magistrate’s Court yesterday. a Hamilton chemist. Kenneth Patrick Blair, was charged with unlawfully supplying pills that would have Hie effect of bringing about a certain result. Accused was represented by Mr N. S. Johnson, and the case for the police was conducted by Detective-Sergeant J. Thompson. Gordon Walter Stare, Government analyst, stated that he had analysed pills sent, to him by Detective-Ser-treant Thompson, witness agreeing that under certa'n conditions the pills could he used to bring about a certain result. However, the pills in question could be used for a normal proper purpose and ns such would be included In the stock of every chemist. A step-s'ster of the voung woman for whom it was alleced the pills were procured, staled that after a certain conversation with Ihe mother of the young woman concerned she had vis’ted Blair’s shop where she had interviewed a girl assistant. The assistant had told her that she was not allowed to sell the pills and told witness to come later and see Blair. In answer to Mr Johnson, witness stated that the p’lls had boon procured for the proper, normal purpose. Evidence ns lo the application for the purchase of the pills was given by the chem'st’s assistant, while the mother of the girl concerned lesHffe.l ns lo the visit to the chemist and the ndm'nistrnt'nn or Hie nills to tier daughter two days before police action. A statement, that she d'd not know ihe pills were for Hie purpose .alleged in the charge was made by Hie daughter. Accused reserved Ids defence and was committed for trial at the next sess'on of the Supreme Court in Hamilton.
