MR ROCKEFELLER’S WILL.

THREE CODICILS. TRUST FOR GRANDDAUGHTER. Mr John D. Rockefeller left 25,000,000 dollars ,of which over 15,000,000 dollars will be taken in taxation. He left a will date June 2, 1925, with three codicils. The third of these made a radical change in the disposition of the estate, leaving the residuary estate not, ns the will provided, in equal shares to his son and to the Laura Spelman Rockefeller Memorial, hut in trust, during her life-time to his granddaughter, Mrs Margaret Strong de Guevus, of New Jersey. The trustees were empowered to pay the income to Mrs de Cuevas or to one or more of her descendants, or to the Rockefeller Institute for Medical ReI search. Mrs de Guevus is Hie daughter of Mr Rockefeller's daughter Bessie, who died in 1906. Mr Rockefeller, in writing Ihe r.odiI cil. sol forth his reasons ns follows: | ”[ am selling up this trust for the I benefit or my granddaughter, Margaret, land her descendants to Ihe exclusion lof my oilier grandchildren and. their I descendants because when the time came Mint 1 felt it, wise to place upon my children the responsibility of owning and administering substantial sums I and for Hint, purpose made large gifts I to or for them, my oldest daughter, Bessie, the mother of my granddaughter, Margaret, was not living.”
