HARBOUR EMPLOYEES.
CONCILIATION PROCEEDINGS. MANY POINTS SETTLED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Saturday. Considerable progress in the New Zealand harbour boards dispute was reported by the Conciliation Commissioner. Mr R. E. Price, when the dispute will be considered at another meeting to be arranged in the near future. Two and a-half weeks have been spent in consideration of approximately 1000 classifications which time and custom have established at tho different ports and a substantial advance has been made since a separate basis for each port was agreed to. Wages, hours and holidays have been agreed upon for fifteen ports and the six remaining ports will be considered when the' council resumes, probably in a fortnight from now. A numrber of minor ports have been struck off the list of parties because of the limited scope of their operations but recommendations are to be made to some of the smaller boards with the object of obtaining an improvement in wages and conditions.
