“POET OF THE PIANO.”
TOUR OF DOMINION. IMPRESSIONS OF AUSTRALIA. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND. Monday. A decided return to popular favour of concerto was noted in Australia by Bcnno Moiseiwitsch, a Russian-born pianist, who arrived from Sydney by the Mariposa for a concert tour embracing the four main centres. He is known as the poet of tlie piano. The artist spoke or the appreciation shown by Australians in orchestral work. More writing, lie said, is being done for orchestras than individual instruments. He also noted a great improvement in the quality of music, the outlook for which is generally promising. This is Hie artist’s first visit to New Zealand as a British subject, lie having been naturalised, recently.
