Although there were no new cdses of Infantile paralysis to-day, the Education Department decided to close about 50 schools in a large - area surrounding the affected part of the city. All the picture theatres in the area are ceasing giving matinees and children are not admitted to evening performances. There is strict prohibition of children from closed schools being transferred to other schools. Much dissatisfaction is expressed by parents at the authorities’ delay in taking action. The official view when the closing of schools was previously suggested was that It would not be helpful.
