Half her life was spent in fighting legal battles by Mrs Rosamund Dale Templeton, who has died at 91 at says the Daily Sketch. She was the daughter of Robert Dale Owen, the American statesman, who persuaded Abraham Lincoln to issue the slavery emancipation proclamation. For 47 years she waged a legal war for £IB,OOO for the site of Haifa Railway Station. Palestine. It was set- | tied in her favour six years ago. She paid 25 visits to Palestine. Her first husband, Laurence Oliphant, bought the Haifa land. Shortly afterwards he died and the Turks seized his property. After 46 years of contest Mrs Templeton met a German who held the papers to prove her right. The affair was settled in less than a fortnight. Then, at 85, Mrs Templeton started to fight a second battle for £15,000 compensation for a further 1000 acres In Palestine. Professor C. A. Ronzevalle, her adopted son, said la9t night: “ The legal battle will now end. Ever since my mother won her last case she has spent all her time trying to help those who helped her in her time of need. “ She has spent so much on helping other people Hint I don’t think she will leave more than £1000."
