The following prices were realised at the city markets:— Poultry:—Cockerels, heavy breeds, prime, 4s 6d to 6s 6d; not prime, Is 6d-up; light (breeds, prime, 2s 3d; not prime, Is up; fat roosters, heavy breeds, prime, 2s 3d; light, 2s to 2s 6d fat hens, (heavy breeds, 3s 3d to 5s 9d; light, 2s 3d to 4s 3d; pullets, heavy breeds, best, 3s to os; smaller, 2s up; light breeds, best, 3s to 4s 6d; smaller, 18 6d up; drakes, young, prime, 2s 6d to 3s 6d; smaller, Is 6d up; old, 2s to 3s 6d; ducks, younger, 2s 6d to 3s 6d; old, 2s to 2s 6d; geese, 4s to 5s 6d; turkey hens, 5s to 6s; gobblers, 11s to 12s; day-old chicks, 4*d to 7d. DISTRICT SALES.

MORRINSVILLE FIXTURE. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company Limited, report that at their weekly Morrinsville stock sale held yesterday only a small yarding of wether mutton was penned, this selling at Arm rates. Ewes -were in short supply, quotations showing no alteration on recent quotations. Lambs were yarded in average numbers with fats remaining firm, while an Improved demand was evident for store ewe and wether lambs. The advertised entry of breeding ewes attracted a large number of buyers and competition was keen with improved prices resulting. A line of 115 4 and 5-year local ewes sold at 39s 6d. good yarding of ox beef comprised 30 pens, with a good proportion of finished quality for which competition was brisk and prices remained Arm. Cow beef was penned In average numbers with a smaller proportion of good quality, these selling Armly. Second quality were yarded In full numbers, these also being In keen demand. Boners were In usual supply, prices being a shade easier. Young oattle, which comprised mostly yearling heifers

were keenly sought. A full offering of dairy cattle oonslsted chiefly of heifers, the quality of which was not up to last week’s standard. Competition at the beginning of the sale was dull, but brightened as It progressed, although values generally were slightly easier. There was a larger yarding of fat pigs than last week with competition exceptionally keen and prices realised for pigs large enough for buttermilk buyers were in excess of values at previous sales. Baooners were also keenly sought, up to £4 4s being realised. A heavy yarding of

stores came forward and prioes for good quality large stores and weaners were on a par with late rates, while low conditioned and inferior sorts were Inolined to ease. A large entry of breeding sows again came forward, and competition throughout was good, and late rates were fully maintained. Quotations. —Sheep: Light fat wethers, 31s to 335; light fat ewes, 26s to 28s; heavy fat lambs, 30s to 32s 6d; medium, 24s 6d to 265; lighter, 22s to 23s 8d; good ewe lambs, 28s to 34s 3d; store wother lambs, 18s to 21s 6d; oull lambs, 11s to 14s; 4 and 5year breeding ewes to lamb early to Southdown rams, 89s 6d; 4 and 6tooth breeding ewes, only in fair condition, 27s Id to 31s Bd. Cattle: Medium fat steers, £ll to £ll 10s; lighter, £lO to £lO 10s; prime 18-months fat steers, £8 4s to £8 15s; prime medium fat cows and heifers, £7 15s to £8; medium, £7 4s to £7 11s; lighter, £6 to £6 15s; killable, £'4 15s to £5 10s; heavy boners, £3 10s to £4 4s; medium, £2 12s to £3 3s; lighter, 30s to £2 4s; sound young cows, £2 to £3 4s; 2-year empty heifers, £3 to £3 14s; medium yearling heifers, £2 17s to £'3 lie; 2s-year store conditioned steers, £7 ss; 18-months P.A. and Hereford steers, £6 3s. N.Z. Loan & Mercantile. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, Hamj iI ton, report as follows on their Morrinsville stock sale held yesterday. Business was transacted at prices showing little movement from those current. Heavy cow and heifer beef was not particularly well represented, only a scattering being yarded. Unfinished Jerseys accounted for most of the yarding, while boners and store cows were entered in about normal j supplies. The yarding, on the whole, ! was only moderate. As well as the | usual bench of local buyers, outsiders were present and competition was keen for all classes. A few pens of yearling heifers made values equal to those prevailing at other centres.
