The Daily Telegraph says that Tito Schipa, the tenor, whose use of the Fascist salute at his concerts caused some controversy, said: “ Signor Mussolini will ask me everything about the trouble I had in Sydney. I will tell him and he will be very angry. Signor Mussolini is a great friend of mine.” Signor Schipa, who leaves for New New Zealand by the Mariposa to-day, added: "I do not know why I* have to go. I wanted to sing in Queensland as well, but my management says ‘ No.’ They stop me. It Is ridiculous. So I go—pushed away to New Zealand.” Mr. E. J. Tait said no concerts had been arranged for Signor Schipa in Brisbane because suitable dates could not be arranged. SINGER TO BROADOABT. TO BE HEARD SUNDAY NIGHT. ON BOARD THE MARIPOSA. Arrangements have been made for New Zealand listeners to hear the Italian tenor Tito Schipa while he is on his way to America by the Mariposa, which will leave Sydney to-mor-row. The singer will broadcast from the vessel on Sunday night when within a few miles of the New Zealand coast. The Mayor of Auckland, Sir Ernest Davis, who will be a passenger, will introduce Schipa. Benno Molselwitsch, pianist, will also be a passenger. FINAL SYDNEY CONCERT. SINGER GIVES FASCIST SALUTE. KISSES THE FLAGS. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. SYDNEY, July 22. Nothing untoward occurred at the final concert in the Town Hall last evening of the Italian tenor Tito Schipa, other than unintelligible Interjection from the gallery. A great audience received tile singer with marked cordiality. Schipa saluted in the Fascist manner several times, led the singing of the National anthem, kissed the Italian and Australian flags and finally saluted the organist.
