He was admitted to the reported to be satisfactory. PARALYSIS EPIDEMIC. WELLINGTON. Friday. In a review of the infantile paralysis epidemic to-day the aclingPrime Minister, the Hon. P. Fraser, states that 819 cases were notified to the end of June and there were 39 deaths, 4.8 per cent, of the cases reported. Notifications in the first half of July showed a very satisfactory reduction to 12. •v T i DAMAGES FOR WIDOW. JURY AWARDS £2927. WELLINGTON, Friday. A damages claim for £4027 3s 6d was brought in the Supreme Court by Mrs Lorraine Eva Mary Manning, of Lower Hutt, in connection with the death of her husband, who was struck by a falling hatch beam when loading butter into the Durham on March 3. Mr. Justice Reed was on the bench. The widow has one child, born six weeks after her husband’s death. She claimed £27 3s 6d special and £4OOO general damages. The jury awarded £2250 to the widow and £650 to the child and special damages brought the total to £2927 3s 6d. STOCK EXCHANGE. TRANSACTIONS IN SYDNEY. SYDNEY, July 23.
