Oysters which have established an unassailahle position in commerce through the culinary affection in which they are held by New Zetilaiidei's may he destined to play all even more im« portant part in the development of trade than ever beiore. They may be the saviours of lhe air mail service. If the plans at present being consid—ered by the tlshmongers in Auckland are put into operation, oysters will he tranahipped from Dunedin by air for consumption on the northern market, advantage being taken of the recentlyinitlated air parcel post. A disclosure to this eflect was made by Mr W. S. MaeGiLbon at a meeting or the council of the Canterbury Chamber of Uommerce last: evening when the air inait services were under discussion. .\ll' .\lacuilmun said he had been informed by lhe Peslmasler— General, the lion. F. Juucs during a flight. from \\'cllington to Blenheim that he 'had hopes that the recently—intro—duced air parcel post. would be the saviour 01' the air mail service. The Minister has been inl'orn'icil that the Auckland llshmongers were consider—ing using the air post for the trans—port of oysters from Dunedin, and he regarded this as an encouraging pign.
