NORTH AUCKLAND CLAIMS.
SEPARATE PROVINCE UROED. DEVELOPMENT or AREA. (By Telegraph—Press ASSOCMHOH.) \V‘HANGAREI, Friday. The Chamber of Commerce meeting has instituted a movement to secure the establishment 01‘ North Auckland as a provincial entity. separate from the Auckland province of which it forms a part. It. is pointed out that the territory is much larger in area and population and has a greater productive wealth than some of the existing provinces. It was the cradle of civilisation in New Zealand and has now attained such dimensions as entitle it to iiie possession of the administrative facilities enjoyed by separate provinces. As its identity is submerged in the Auckland Prox’ince it is urged that a separate province should have a distinctive name.
