RELIEF AND SUSTENANCE.
[ MINISTERIAL STATEMENT. 1 \VELLINGTON. Thursday. ‘ A statement issued by the Minister of Labour, the Hon. Hi ’l‘, Armstrong, shows that 35,270 males were receiving rationed relief work or sustenance or awaiting placement on relief at Mat. 9, as conmnred wit-ii 33,277 on Aprii 11, an increase of 1993, but a reduc—tion of 2830 on the figures at the corresponding date last year. The Minister was that the Government has allowed as eligible for re—liet‘ a large number of indigent un—employed workers, who were deprived of receiving sustenance under the pre— Vions mlminlstration, otherwise the difference would have been greater.
