PLUNKET SOCIETY.

'rl AWAMUTU BRANOH. ANNUAL MEETING HELD. 'l‘he sixteenth annual general meeting of the Te Awamutu branch of the Plunket Society was held in the Borough Council Chambers on Monday afternoon The president, Mrs C. G. Downes. occupied the chair. There was a small attendance, which the committee hopes is due rather to confidence in the conduct or the branch's affairs than to lack of interest in the work being done by the Society. After the presentation and adoption of the annual report the meeting considered the balance sheet which showed the actual income of the branch from all sources to have been £348 35 7d for the year, and the expenditure £369 55 7d, The secretary pointed} out that it would be necesary to find 81 further £lO 165 for the salaries account under the new scheme operating from April 1, 1936. and as expenditure had already been reduced to the minimum it was to be hoped that receipts would increase during the coming year. It would be deplorable if any further reductions were to be made in the reserves, which might be needed at any time as the nucleus for a building fund. At present the branch lhad a financial membership of 1:3. which might well he quadrupled in such a progressive district. The baianco sheet. was adopted.

The officers for the ensuing year were elected as followsz—Branch patron, Mrs C. u. Downes. president. Mrs J. G. Self; vicevpl'esidents, Mes flames K. N. Iliskens, N. .\lcAlisler, and A. H.
