TESTING STATISTICS

HERDS IN WAIKATO. .lISONAL DECLINE RECORDED. FIGURES FOR APRIL. Herd-testing figures for April reheed by the New Zealand Co-opera-Elva Herd-testing Association indicate the seasonal decline in production. For the 82,611 cows tested. the aver‘ age was 440 lb. milk, with 23.38 lb. ht, as compared with 428 lbs. milk and 22.44 lbs. fat during the corresponding period last season. More cows were tested during Aprill of. last year, but the improved production figures for the same month this year reflect the better conditions ‘ that have prevailed. l The highest producing cow for thei month yielded 87 lbs. fat and wasi in the East Tamaki group, while the‘ second highest producer was in the Drury group and was responsible for I yield of 80 lbs. fat. With an aver- } ego of 36.82 lbs. fat, a herd in the Springdale group boasted the best per- i formulae for the month, but a herd‘ in the Paeroa. group was only a shade i behind the leader, having a produc-‘ tion of 36.80 lbs. fat. i
