The Bombay correspondent of the Daily Telegraph says the mass breakaway of "untouchables" from Hinduism_. which imposes numerous restrictions on the so—called depressed classes. occurred when 10,000 “un—touchables" assembled at a conference unanimously decided to change their religion, as the only way by which the low rasie communily can attain equality. it is believed that the various sec—tions will now join Islam Christianity or Theosophy. It is expected that this action will load to blher breakaway; from llinduism among the 60,000,000 “untouchables."
