A SUCCESSFUL SHOW.

To-night the “'aikato Winter Show will close after establishing many new records. The entries were the largest ever received, and they covered a wider range than usual; indeed, taken together they made an exhibition of a surprising order and interest. The attendances daily have exceeded anything previously known in the history of the Association, showing the place that the annual fixture has won in public estimation. It, has been the meeting place of town and country, and the provision made for their entertainment has been fully appreciated. Visitors from other districts—and they, too, have been more numerous than ever—have been very complimentary in their remarks, and have given the Waikato Winter Show the first place for fixtures of this nature. The 'oflicials have had an exceptionally busy time and it must have been pleasing to them to see the general appreciation of the educational value of the Show and the evidences of the widespread interest it has created. In the history of a show such as this records are made only to be broken. Each new level reached is but the starting point for a fresh advance, and continued growth can be confidently anticipated. The popularity of the show, and its development are the result of confidence and energy. The officials had to be confident not only in the soundness of their decisions but also of their ability to enlist the services of public—spirited men and women to assist in many ways. There had to be confidence in the development of town and district, based on confidence in the future of the Dominion. These are the qualities that should ensure the continued growth and prosperity of the Association.

The direction of the Show has been in capable hands, and the ability to add steadily to its attractions, to make it representative of district and of wider interests, has been a powerful factor in its success. It is becoming more widely recognised as an exhibition of the industrial progress of the Dominion, and the figures showing the attendances each day should he sufficient to convince industrialists that here is a splendid opportunity to bring their manufactures under the notice of the people who make the market. Favoured with wonderful weather the \Vinter Show of 1936 has eclipsed all previous records. That is a matter for congratulation, and this marked success will encourage those directing its activities to go ahead confidently with their plans for the future.
