KITCHEN EVENING.
FOR MISS H. HUGHES. A popular resident of Wardville was honoured recently when a kitchen evening was tendered Miss H. Hughes, in honour of her approaching marriage to Mr W. Newsom. The hall was packed to overflowing and dancing was the major entertainment for the evening. The evening, which was organised by the Young People’s Club, was an outstanding success and a striking tribute to the guest of the evening and her fiance. Oh behalf of those present Mr J. E. Barker testified to the esteem with which the Hughes family was regarded and the guest of the evening in particular. On behalf of the Young People’s Club Mr F. Patterson presented Miss Hughes with two seagrass chairs as a token of affection from members. Mr Newsom replied to both speeches on behalf of Miss Hughes Institute Presentation. I At a meeting of the Women’s Institute Miss Hughes was again the ! guest of honour. On behalf of memI bers the president, Mrs J. E. Barker, j presented Miss Hughes with an oak I dinner waggon. Miss Hughes suitably responded.
