SARAZEN’S PLANS NOT COMPETING IN OPEN. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Monday. Advice 'has been received by Mr Sutton, secretary of the New Zealand Golf Association, that Gene Sarazen, the American golfer, will not compete in the New Zealand open championship. He now 'intends to visit New Zealand before he takes part, in the ►Australian championship and therefore will not be able to play in the open championship here. Accompanied by Miss Helen Hicks he will arrive at Auckland on August 3 and will play a number of exhibition matches with Miss Hicks before leaving for Australia on August 18. NGARUAWAHIA CLUB. In a match for the Black and White Cup against Waikare played at To Kaui whata during the week-end, the Ngaruawahia team was defeated by nine games to three.
