3 STANDARD TYPES.
DEPARTMENTAL DECISION. “WELLINGTON. Monday, The recognition of the sub—standard butter box as complying with all the requirements of the Marketing! Depart—ment was announced to»ni.iht by the acting—Director of Marketing. Mr G. A. Duncan. ‘ The question of types of butter boxes had been considered by the de—partment, Mr Duncan said. \\'ith the recognition of the sub-standard imx no additional payment would be made in respect or butter packed in the regulation standard box. inquiries had been made regarding the cost of pack—ing in the regulation sawn saranao box and it, had been decided that hutter packed in that, box would he paid for at 3d a box less than butter parked in the regulation standard and sub—standard boxes. It was recognised. .\lr Duncan con—tinued. that. in \‘ie\\' of the impossi—bility of requiring the use of one type of box it would be fair, by a prirc adjustment. in place all factories on the same basis in order to avoid an advantage .hein;r gives: to those which used hoxes other than the standard and sub-standard types. In order to enable the required number of boxes to be made axaiiabir for next season it. would be necessary for the far—tnries to order approximately the same proportionate quantities of each type as during the season now closing. The Government. Mr Duncan added. had ascertained that if orders for boxes were placed immediately there would be no need of further importa—tions of boxes for next season. The Dairy Board 'had already circularised the factories on this matter. How—ever, it. was essential in order to obviate delays in deliveries that no time should he lost. in placing orders.
