WRESTLING.
MATCH AT HAMILTON. FORSGREN AND WOODS. Waikato wrestling enthusiasts will have their first opportunity on Thursday of seeing in action two of the most popular and successful of the wrestlers appearing under the Dominion Union’s control this season. Jack Forsgren, heavyweight champion of Canada, and a leading contender for the British heavyweight title, will meet Joe Kopacl/Woods, of America, a tireless and colourful worker in the ring. Forsgren, who has wrestled all over the United States and Canada during the past few years, won the Canadian light-heavyweight and heavyweight amateur titles as an amateur, and the professional heavyweight title in 1932. lie subsequently lost it to Earl McGready but regained it after the latter left for New Zealand. Woods, after sharing his time beI tween boxing and wrestling as an amateur, first came into prominence as a boxer, lie won the American amateur heavyweight championship in 1925 and then turned professional. Having exhausted his available opponents in the United States he went abroad in 1930 and in South Africa twice knocked out the African champion, Don McCorkindale, being the first man to do so. It was shortly after iie got back that lie changed over to wrestling and he rapidly progressed to a high position in the sport. Amateur Bouts.
