I Nurses Defeat Technical School. i Sound defensive tactics by the i Nurses‘ hacks was a policy safely carried out to save many scores I against their side 'when they met the Technical School eleven on Sat urday. The match, which was fairly open, often found the Nurses’ team; hard pressed, but a hard—hitting full— I back in Miss Goodwin, and an alert: goalie in Miss Harlow, kept the oppos— I ing scorers at bay. Possessing a fast 5 and agile forward line, the Technical - team gave itself many advantageousl positions, several prospective scores! being narrowly averted by good play by the Nurses‘ backs. The first score went to Nurses when Miss A. Tassel], after taking possession from the rough. shot neatly between the posts. The school team's reply was to attack, but despite nlak- 1 ing some good movements, they. showed sigl‘s of tiring, although Miss: Kirth, as l-uft inside for Technical,. played soundly. l Technical Old Girls Win; I Better hockey was witnessed when : Tech. Old Girls A met Leamington at Boyes’ Park on Saturday to take part in one of the brightest and most closely contested matches of the season. Technical 01d Girls won by three goals to nil. The lllatch was closely fought to the last, no goals being. scored until the latter portion of the l game was reached. Both teams at—tacked vigorously from the com#2
mencement, the Technical forwards handling well, but finding difficulty in passing the Leamington backs, whose defence was good. Although Technical pressed strongly in the Leamington quarter, frequently the opposing forwards took the ball the length of the field, but failed to gain material advantage Misses Prince and Lee, the Technical full-backs, stood their team in good stead Playing soundly for Technical, Miss J Adams, as outside right, started several attacks and several times within the circle Technical were close to scoring The second half opened with all the ardour that was displayed in the 'first, hard hitting taking the play over the Whole field Both teams showed good combination, Technical ;handling well The first score re- ‘ sulted when Miss Aitken eluded Leam}ington’s defence to score a goal off lthe goal-keeper A second was shot soon after by Miss S. Lymburn, the ilatter to score again later in the lgame, often taking the ball over ialmost the entire length of the field. Technical was able to retain its lead luntil the end of the game.
