Detective-Sergeant Thompson stated that accused for the past five months had been wandering around the country working “here he could. On Feb—ruary 23 he took a suitcase from a car stationed in Lake Crescent and after going through the contents threw it into some scrub in an empty section. In connection with the other charge accused picked up a cheque on the Great South Road and he cashed it in Auckland. “Last June he was sent home by the Child \Veii‘are Department to his parents in Auckland, but he “in not stay there.“ added Mr Thompson. “He has got no home to so to and if he is discharged 1- do not know what he will do." Mr S. L. Paterson SAL. who was on the bench. convicted accused on the first charge and sentenced him to smell days‘ imprisonment. and on the second charge convicted him and sent him to Borstal {or two years.
