The weekly wireless news summary from the League of Nations at Geneva has been issued by the Prime Minister's Department. Dangerous Drugs. “ The League Advisory Committee on tramc in opium and other dangerous drugs considered the annual reports of Governments on tramc in these drugs for 1934. The reports contain state—ments as to the legislative administra—tive measures used in different countries for ensuring the supervision of the illicit drug trafiio and for control—ling international trade and the production of raw materials in countries producing poppy, coco leaf, Indian hemp and the output of manufactured drugs in 23 countries and territories. “ The committee examined the question of relatively high consump—tion of morphine in certain countries and proposed that codine should be used for morphine in certain countries. ‘ Mandates. “ The Mandates Commission began its 29th session under the chairmanship of the Marquis of Theodoii. It commenced its consideration of the ‘report on the administration of New Guinea for 1935, in the presence of ‘the Australian representative, and it will also examine the reports on Palestine. trans-Jordan and Tanganyika “British mandate) Syria and Lebanon (French Mandate), on Nauru (Austra—‘lian mandate), South-VVest Africa iL'nion (South African mandate). The ‘oommmission wiii then consider 'cer—tain petitions regarding Palestine, ‘trans-Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, the Cameroons (French mandate), Tangahv ‘yika, and New Guinea.
