ELSTOW NEWS.
TENNIS CLUB FAIR. The Elstow Hall was the scene of great activity on Tuesday evening, the occasion being the Eastport Ten~ nis Club’s fair. There was a good attendance and an enjoyable evening was spent. Competitions included pillow fights, Aunt Sally, ringing the bottle, clock golf, nail-driving, dropping the penny, and lighting the candle. After supper Mr N. Eastwood, president of the Eastport Tennis Club, thanked all those who helped to make the evening a success and presented the cups and trophies won during the season. He then called on the secretary, Mr R. Horn, who, for the benefit of visitors, outlined the club’s activities during the past year. Following were the winners of the various trophiesz—Men’s singles annual cup (presented by Mrs Horn. senr.) with miniature, Mr Ken Clem—ents; ladies’ singles annual cup (presented by Mrs Wagstafl", senr.) with miniature (presented by Mrs A. Keig‘htley), Miss R. Horn; junior singles annual cup (with miniature (presented by Mrs M. Eastwood), Master Alex. Horn; men‘s doubles’ trophies, Messrs T. Quultrough and T. Roland; ladies' doubles trophies, Miss E. Eastwood and Mrs Conmbes; combined doubles trophies, Mr J. George and Mrs Coombes. The combined trophies were presented by Wallace Supplies. Waitoa (men’s trophy) and Messrs Callaghans and Sons, Te Aroha (ladies’ trophy). Junior doubles trophies, Masters Gordon Nicol and Ray \VagStafi‘; junior singles losers‘ round (trophy), Miss Tui Campbell.
