Several remits concerned with tit. position or soldier settlers were eonsidered at the Auckland Provinolsi' Conference of the Farmers” Union today. In order to 'bring the vsrioul complaints regarding the position of the soldier settler under one handing. the following report was brought forward by Mr 'C. L. Browne. of Otorolmnza. and endorsed by the wafer cncc:——“That the union should collect all particulars concerning objectionable features 0! the Lands Department’s udministraiinn of tin. affairs of soldier St‘iiit'i's undcr its control. and should nrmmzc a drputntlon In conjunction \\iiii thc llclurncd Soldiers” Association to place the matter before tho Ministt‘r for Lands. items for con-sult-ration should inriudcz—(i) Unsatisfactory system of furnishing statsmenls of accounts: (2i secret reports of fields inspectors: (3) purchase of slack by fields inspectors: (i) cirrumstanres attending eviction of set—tlers; IS) alleged victimisation: (6) lim necessity that holds inspectors should have both a practical and In academic knowledge of forming; ('l) the non-participation of soldier sottlcrs in statutory reduction of 20 per cent in rent and interest; (8) ms injustice or conilscatins equities in land or stock in order to liquidate u'resrl oi rent and interest accumulated during abnormally dimcult years."
