I‘ve been in public life 45 years and now they do this to me. Can you blame me it I feel bitter?" Mr Thomas said he did not intend to make any full statement until the tribunai’s findings were published. Then he might speak his mind. He complained that members at his family were being persecuted. “What has my son. Leslie, done?" asked Mr Thomas. “He is an innocent victim who has been put on the pillory. Besides resigning from his firm he has had to resign from a Town Council where he was doing useful work. He is being hounded from pub—lic life." The political correspondent of the Daily Mail says the Budget tribunat‘s report will suggest methods of en—suring closer secrecy about the Budget in future, including that the Chancellor‘s proposals shalt 'be communicated only to the Prime Minister instead of to the full Cabinet. The Home Secretary.
