GAMES IN REVIEW. GLEN MASSEY PLEASES. STARR-TOWN’S STRONG SIDE. Although beaten on Saturday by Wanderers the young Glen Massey team gave a good indication that they will develop into a. strong side and with the experience they have already gained they should acquit themselves well in future matches. Some of their individual players were outstanding, particularly German. centre half. who displays all the attributes of a player of real class. No better exhibition at the centre~half position than his has been seen at Seddon Park this year, with perhaps the exception of D. Crabb. The Glen Massey player's trapping was exceptionally neat and a feature of his attacking was the unselfishness he showed. Of the other Glen Massey players J. Crockett was always in the picture. 0f Wanderers it can be said that they had that little extra experience and polish which allowed them to hold the advantage. Their victory was not notable for the aggressiveness of their forward division, but for the 'long accurate kicking of the full-backs, A. Crabb and McLean, who time and again turned defence into attack. High Scoring Game. ; The Starr-Town-‘Rovers encounter was productive of very high scoring, an aggregate of 13 goals being regis‘tered. With 9 of these the home team secured a wide margin over the ‘ Claudelands combination. Rovers l were unable to overcome the demoral—- . ising effect produced by Starr-Town’s ; scoring four goals within 20 minutes lot the outset. ; As was anticipated Rotowaro iproved too good for Pukemiro in a fairly even encounter. A margin of ‘ two goals for the winners was a fair ‘ indication of the trend of play. i McLean Impressive. i The palm for the most consistent player seen on Seddon Park this year must surely go to McLean, Wanderers’ left full-back. A tower of strength to his side, McLean is fearless on ldefence and his clearing kicks are aliways powerful and well directed. As ‘demon-strated last Saturday, McLean is more than a little responsible for the openings provided for the Wan—derers’ forward division. On his presr‘nt l'nrm ii, is ilfll‘il to visualise how Nil-Lean missed selection from {he rcprcseulalivc loam. A Strong Side. . StariuTown United, last year's senior champions, are fielding a particularly strong side this year, seven of its members having gained repre—scniulivc lnmm's. .\lurslmll, \\'ilson and Currigan for North Auckland, and Sterling, llall, Bate and Deakin for South Auckland. On their display in matches to (late, Starr-Town look like carrying oif the honours again this season.
