Mara Burtyl and Patty Bluett were highly commended. Girls under 10: Dorothy Hall, Eddie Smith. Pamela Oaten, Patricia Whlneray and Marie Prendergast were highly commended. Recitation, boys under 8: Ernest Goodwin, 75 points, 1; lan Seddon, 70 points, 2. Recitation, girls under 16—'recalls: Nina Waite, Rosalie Seddon. Highly commended: Reta Anderson, Valerie Nicolas. Operatic Dancing. Character duo. 12 years and under: Inez O’Connor and Jean Reidy l, Nita Williams and P. Sager 2. Operatic solo, under 12—recalls: Patricia Linder, Margaret Scrimshaw, Mara Burtyl. Instrumental. Piano solo, under 10: Ronald Kemp and Josephine Hawke. Vocal. Soprano solo: Miss Dorothy Robson and Miss Desmond Llddy. Mezzo soprano solo: Miss Nona Easter, Mrs C. F. O’Connor. The results of the brass quartette competitions held in the Waikato Win- : ter Show concert hall last evening are as follows: Cambridge Municipal Band, 90 points, 1; Hamilton Citizens’ Band, 89 points, 2.
