HOLD-UP IN MELBOURNE. SUPEHIXTEXDEXT \VOUNDED. United Press Ann—Eire. Tel. Copyrmn. MELBOURNE, May 25. The police have issued an omcial statement concerning the shooting of Superintendent Brophy. Chief of the Victorian Criminal Investigatlon Department. This states that Mr Brophy went to Royal Park on Friday night to try to catch some car 'liandlts who were operating in that locality. He was held up by two armed men who apparently recognised him. The men ih‘ed lhrec shols before Mr Brophy rouhl manipulate his own revolver, which jammed.
