The general election iu‘ Belgium resulted in the Rexists—a new Fus—clst organisation the aim of which is to reform political life—gaining 20 seats from the Uatliolics. formerly the biggest party in the uhamber ni’ Representatives. The Socialist Purl-y now will he the most. important party in the new Chamber in spite of losing three seats to the Communists. The results are not complete. The state of parties in the Belgian Chamber of Representatives after the last general election, in November, 1932, was as follows: Cathoiircs '79 Liberals 24 Socialists 73 Flemish Nationalists .. . . 8 Communists .. . . .. . . 3 The present. Government is a coalition of Catholics, Liberals and Socialists led by Dr. Paul Van Zeeinnd (Catholic). It was formed in March, 1935.
