Mar 25~ His Majesty left Fort Belvedere by air for Southampton-to inspect the liner Queen Mary. to WHO“ Queen Mary, the Duke and Duchess of York. the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the Duke and Duchess of Kent and the Princess Elizabeth travelled by train. The King and Queen Mary and party extensively toured the liner. The Queen devoted special attention to the kitchens, while Princess Eliza—beth enjoyed the delights of the child—ren‘s playroom, where she slid down the chute. _ Later the King and his brothers inspected the engines, all of which were in motion. The visitors expressed amazement at the lack of vibration. Princess Elizabeth Thrillod. Princess Elizabeth received a. great thrill when allowed to press a button sounding the Queen Mary's giant siren, whose deep boom was heard for miles. The Royal party saw a lifeboat swung out. The Queen was astonished to learn that. the ship ‘held more passengers than the Cunard Company's first steamer, Britannia. The King and Queen signed pilotegraphs of themselves for the ship, and all members of the Royal party signed the visitors' book. The Queen said the ship was even more beautiful than she expected. The King, who wore a black suit and a straw hot, when driving out from the dock to the aerodrome, waved to the crowd with a pipe in one hand and a match in the other. WILL NOT ATTEND DERBY. Because of Court mourning the King will not attend the Derby and will not hold the customary dinner for members of the Jockey Club, but he is inviting a few friends with turf associations to a dinner at York House. ' The King is not abandoning the Derby dinner. Popular selections for _the Derby are Noble King, Pay Up and ’l‘aiakbar. TOUR 0F DUGHY 0F CORNWALL. QUEEN MARY DINES OUT. (Official Wireless.) RUGBY, May 21:. King Edward will pay a visit to Cornwall on June .3 and \\‘ill make a tour of several of the farms on his Duchy of Cornwall estate and will meet some of his tenants.
