GO\ hR‘NMEINT ALERT. ‘ MEASURES TO CHECK RISE. ' (Special to Times.) \VELLING‘TON, Monday. i “Any tendency to exploit wage3earners by unduly high prices will be checked,“ said the lion. D. G. Sullivnn, Minister of Industries and Com‘mcrce, to—day in announcing that the Government was carefully watching price movements for all commodities and intended to take action if necessary to maintain whet is considered a rcaismmble level. The Minister stated that. apart from the action taken with respect to the cement and timber industries, it had not been necessary to seek any adjustment or prices in any other lines. In fact, he was bound to say that on the whole business people had so far met the position very fairly. There had been no suggestion of defiance. but it there was the Government had all the powers necessary under the Board of Trade Act to deal with unjustifiable increases in prices. Under the Act the Government could so as far even as issuing blanketing regulations covering prices in all industries. 1
