Ballard. in welcoming this yell“. visitors at the onicial opening. "\\'e are about to open another Show, the thirtieth annual exhibition oi’ the district's productive and industrial “with, and as president 01 the \\'aikato Winter Show Association I am proud to say that it is the greatest exhibition \\'e have ever had." said M! Ballard. "The aggregate of entriehas established a new record. while the fact. that all available space “WI. taken up many weeks ago must be regarded not only as a tribute to the Show as an advertising medium, but
also as an indication that. the Dominic! has emerged from the troublous yam or depression. and has entered into a period of better times. it is with a great deal or pleuure that I' welcome to the Show the Right Hon. the Prime Minister. Mr Savage. members of Cabinet and Parliament. and other visitors. We deeply appreciate the honour they have accorded us in accepting the invitation to be present and I feel confident that the! will and muoh 0! interest in the difi’erent sections. i feel quite Justified in saying that we have a fine Show this year, and credit for this is due in no small measure to our secretory. Mr W. ii. Raul. confidence in Leader-e. "in welcoming Mr Savage and hi. associates I feel I must take the opportunity to extend to them our beet wishes in their responsible task of piloting the ship of State through the difficult sea of world aifairs. \\'e an confident that in their deliberations and decisions the welfare of the Dominion as a whole will ever be their guiding principle. and we have faith in their ability to bring about a better state of affairs in the Dominion. for the common good. “The \\'aikato \\'lnter Show, since its inception thirty years ago, hu been an important factor in the progress and development of the VVaikato. and as surh it is representative of the wealth and production of the district. We welcome you to our exhibition. and hope that your visit will be an enjoyable one,"
