MR NASH’S MISSION.
t _— (To the Editor.) Sir.——in reply to Mr Younng letter of May 21, it" 1 (lrew what; he eon—siders un\\'urruntnhle conclusions. then i ui't'er him my regrets. I still main—tuin, however. that there is a grave danger of "dumping" our dairy pro—ducts on the English market, with the Government in power becoming the purchasers of the output and con—sequently the sellers. No fair-minded person will begrudge the farmer re—ceiving a fair return for his labour and produce. it the price realised on the English market is equal to the purchase price well and good. Suppose, however, there is a serious gap. entailing consiclerahle'loss. The Government merely account for it; by a few strokes of the pen, causing a “debit entry" to be made in a ledger oi’ the Govern—-ment-controllml State Bank, and all money received to be paid to their Credit. No individual farmer can compete against this, as he has to make up his losses in money and cannot do it 11y making at debit entry in a ledger. The Government's policy is one or intlntiun, in which they have the, \\holo resources of the eountry behind them, and nguinst \\'hieh they run issue paper money. At the sumo time. the mine at New Zeulund money is drprevintim: in mile in the inllutiun. ’l'ht- llt‘tllllt' ut' the ruuntt') unit nit «'tnssrs hm:- tn [my far it'.
