Monday. , That the Farmers' Union had its :genesis in politics and was essentially 'a political organisation was a point {stressed by the Dominion president 01 the union. .\lr \V. J. Poison. .\i.P.. at a meeting or primary producers in Morrinsville to—day. .\lr J. E. Leeaon, chairman of the .\lorrinsville Co-oper-ative Dairy Company, presided. “The union was rounded on politics. it exists on politics. and has politics for breakfast. dinner and tea." Mr Poison said. "Every year its policy is set down (or consideration, but its platform is the same as it was so years ago. Its main objective is treedom (or the farmer." Mr Polson said there had been several people who had suggested that as president of the union he could not talk politics. He did not agree. He was a trustee for the farmers of the country and it was a duty. !or him to carry out their wishes and fight their battles. "I am not going to get out or it because there is a fight on." he added. “It is my job to work {or the farmer."
