King. ‘ Replying to the toast of the New! Zealand Government, proposed by .\lr D. D. \\’ilson, .\lr E. McKenzie, depu-l iising for the Hon. \\'. E. Parry. Minister of Internal Affairs. who couldl not be present owing to pressure ofl his ministerial duties. said that the Acclimatlsation Society was fortunate in having at the head of the department of Internal Affairs, one who was so sympathetic to the interests of sportsmen. Mr Perry had not waited for the Society to seek his aid. but had called a conference at which an)' suggestions for the modification of existing conditions had been thorough—ly investigated. Mr McKenzie further remarked that the Minister was giving the Acclimaj‘ tisation Society wider scope for its. activities and .\lr Parry was doing his} utmost to remove barriers which hadfi impeded the progress of the society in past years. Interests of Shooters. As president of the Auckland'Acclimatisation Society .\lr .\lcKenzie‘ urged the fullest 100-operation of all: sub-societies in fostering the interests; of shootisis. in his opinion thei raising ot' the license too had not} proved detrimental and he was in fav—‘l our of a further increase to 305.' Woolven and responded to by Mr McKenzie, while “The sub-societies,": proposed by Mr A. E. Missen. was} responded to by Messrs W. G. Barclay. (Te Aro‘ha). A. ‘Harlock (Huntly), W.’ Harbutt (Cambridge). W. Barlow. (Morrinsviile), L. Mason (Matamats),‘ A. G. Potter (Franklin). During the evening Mr A. A. Mclesn. secretary of the Hamilton sub-. society, presented the president. Mr; A. E. Missen. with an vornamen-i tal table lamp in recognition of the services which he had rendered sportsmen and for the work he had done to ensure the success of the} the evening. z Several trophies were presented by! Mr Missen. The chairman said that; the very hearty thanks of the Society} wereextendod to those sportsmen] who had contributed game to the menu. I Items were rendered by Messrs K.. P.
