l COMPETITION ADVANCED. i GLEN MASSEY IMPREBS. SUCCESS 0F WANDERERS. Going down to Wanderers s—z in' a hard—fought game. Glen Massey made a good impression in their first match at Seddon Park on Saturday. 01' the indiyidual players German gave the best exhibilion on the ground, his neat trapping and clever footwork stamping him as a centre half of real class. Crockett showed up as the best of the forwards. For Wanderers, Stewart in the forward line revealed good form, while McLean and Crabb, the null hacks. saved time and time; again and appear to be the strongest pair in any one team in the competi- . tion. McLean in particular cleared well with powerful, well—directed kicking. Clarkson, playing centre centre half in place of Caldwell. was responsible for good work. showing a ‘ good turn of speed and feeding his 1 forwards well. Wanderers had a spell of attacking, but could not put their Leiforts to any good purpose, Glen ‘Massey’s back line clearing well. A good effort by Montford. the Glen Massey‘s goalie. extricated his team from a serious position when Wanderers looked dangerous. The First Soot-o. A passing rush by Glen Massey enecl in J. At this stage the Glen Massey team were playing good football and the Hamilton team‘s efforts were mostly confined to defence. Wanderers Score. ‘ Immediately after the resumption WVanderers attacked, and after Clarkson had passed to G, Crabh the inside right beat the full back and shot hard to give the goalie no chance. Glen .\lasscy 1, Wanderers 1. Wanderers maintained the pressure. but the Glen Massey hacks relieved well. and took play to the opposition circle. When Wanderers returned to the attack Donaldson passed to Stew~ urt. who beat the goalie. to score. making the tallies: Wanderers 2, Glen Massey 1. A good effort on the part of Glen Massey forwards was nullified when J. Connew shot high. An identical situation saw the same player go wide with his second attempt.
