The inauguration of an Insurance, Benevolent, Presentation, and Recreation Society in connection with the firm or House and Daking took place at a staff dinner, held in House and Daklng“s ‘Tenrooms, this week. i The society provides mainly for the‘ payment of wages to any person oni sick leave—four weeks on full payi and eight weeks on half pay. Mr J. \V’. Court, who was present, made a contribution of £250 on behalf of the firm to start the society on a. sound financial basis. He also outlined a scheme of alterations to the store which would take place in the‘ near future and which would provide greater facilities for the shopping publie. The evening closed with a hearty vote of thanks to 311‘ Court.
