WAIKATO UNION MEETING. REINSTATEMENTS FROM LEAGUE. NORTH ISLAND TOUR. At the monthly meeting of the \\‘ai—kato Rugby Union management com—mittee last evening Mr \V. Fraser presided, and also present were Messrs A. St. C, Belcher. A. G. Yardley, N. G. Boulton, A. E. Gibbons, B. Chap—man, B. Taylor, J. B. Rolfe, 11. ‘l‘. Haselden, C. U, Speigh‘t (treasurer), and T. W. Thompson (secretary). Notification was received from the Cambridge Sub-Union that they would be challenging this season for the Finlay Cup and Waikato Junior Clarke ‘ Cup. With several promises, including the finding of a position in the town, :1 Te Awamutu player had signed on to play for a League club in Auckland, but when he went to Auckland the job did not.eventuate, and he came back ‘to To Awamutu, reported Mr Hasel‘den. The player now desired to play ‘Ru‘sby. and the Waipa Sub-Union lashed whether he would have to apply for reinstatement. On looking ‘through the rules it was tound that the player was deemed to be a League player and would have to be reinstated. Several applications for reinstatement from League to Rugby were re—ceiVed from Hamilton, one from Waipa and one from Cambridge. it was de—cided that players applying for reinstatement be not allowed to play until their clearances had come to hand from Wellington. A letter from the Thames Valley Union asking where and when the Thames Valley-Walkato match would be played was received, and it was decided to play the match at Morrins—ville in August. Serummngo Rule. Advice that the New Zealand Union delegates at the annual meeting had adopted the three men in the front row of the scrum, and an appeal that all unions should adopt this ruling, was received from the New Zeulund Union. A resolution that the Wailsato Union expected all clubs and teams to adhere to this ruling was passed. A request was received from the King Country Union that the \V'alknto team whilst on tour should play King Country. it was also suggested that two matches, one in each centre, should be played each year. The appliCation ior honle-and-away matches was declined, and the match while on tour was also declined. The delegates to the New Zealand Conference tabled a lengthy report giving the information of the Wailiato's proposed tour of the southern portion of the North Island this season, commencing in the middle of July. New Inland Selectorehlp. Mr Yardley culmented on the fact that at the New Zesland delegates‘ annual meeting the New Zealand selectonshlp was not discussed. and stated that it was unfair that there was only one selector tor the whole of the Auckland province. The match with Auckland in Hamilton on June 3 was confirmed, and it was reported that the return match would be played at Auckland on June 23. Mr A. E. Gibbons was appointed manager of the \Yalkato team in Hamilton and Mr \V. Fraser for the \Vaikato team in Auckland. It was decided that the Bay of Plenty Union be offered a match against Walkalo in Cambridge during the Cambridge jubilee in August.
