GOLF NOTES.
HAMILTON LADIES’ OLUI DOUGLAS CUP COMPETITIOKS. (By All Square“) In glorious sunshine and with the links in splendid order the Douglas Cup competition and consolation match were continued on Wednesday. On account of several players taking part in the Rotorua tournament the second round of the competitions was not completed. Mrs G. B. Isdale was too 'consistent for Mrs L, Pettit. Both players were on the same mark, the former winning on the 16th green. Mrs P. G. Russell was on her game to beat Mrs D. E. ‘Hart, who has been playing very well since joining the club this season. Mrs F. H. Mander played her usual strong game and won easily from Mrs E. V. Daldy. Mrs G. 0; Bennet could not have given many chances in beating,Mrs C. F. O’Connor. who has been playing a very consistent. game this season. Mrs N. Rawlings and Mrs Batt's game was an inter—esting one as both players have been playing very well lately and a good match was expected. Mrs Rawlings‘ superior putting won her the match. In the consolation match Mrs G. Bindon accounted for Mrs A. R. Brown and Miss V. Cann had a win against Mrs A. E. Savage. Mrs Philip Harkness found that ii strokes were too many to give Mrs F. M. Taylor, who has been playing very steadily. Mrs M. Booth is playing a. much Improved game and her win against Mrs G. Smith was deserved. Miss B. Johnstone and Mrs A. ‘H. Ward had a close game, the latter finishing 2 up. Mrs Waring and Mrs Luckle's match was the only one to finish up all squarei i , Bogoy Match. i t In the bogey competition for those 1 not in the above games most of the ‘members found bogey very hard on iWednesday. There were no very ‘good scores, the heavy dew possibly being responsible, making the going ‘ very heavy. Miss D. Duxfleld was ‘ the best of the senior players with 3 down. ,Mi‘ss D'uxileld's Score included seven 4's. Mrs Rupert Wor- ‘ ley was the winner in the junior divi- ‘ sion. 'Her rooming—in score was 2 up, but. going out she found a lot of ‘ trouble and her hard looked hopeless i with 5 down. Miss I. Bruce was also ‘ 3 down, but was not so good as Mrs Woriey's over the last nine holes. I Week-end Players. ‘ There seems to be a decided imiprovement in the Saturday scores. ‘Miss Madeley is playing well, while Mrs Whitehouse, Miss K. McLeod and Miss D. lSpeigh't have all returned good cards. Miss Speight had the best bogey card during the week-end, her score being 4 down. Rotorun Tournament. . The Hamilton players. Mrs L. Day and Mrs J. Clachan are to be congratulated in being specially mentioned in the qualifying round of the cham—pionships. “Mrs Day's gross 85 placed her top of the qualifying list. Considering the big field and the number of low handicap players competing Mrs Day put up a splendid performance. On a 7 mark herself she was up against players on a 2 handicap, several 31's and s's; Miss Green, of Sydney, on a ti and many 'i's. Miss M. Wilkinson on a '7 mark in taking sth place with n gross 89 is also to be congratulated. If Mrs J. Clachan colud have got going in the first half she would certainly have made a name for herself as her 38 coming in was a great. recovery. In the match plays Mrs L. Day and Mrs J. Clachan both survived the first round and Miss \\’ilkinson was only beaten by one point. However, in the second round llamiiton players were all eliminated. In the handicap event. Mrs H. Mc— Donald. who qualified top, went- right throng-h to the final, beating Mrs Hutchinson 4—2;
